Spring is coming and with it many tasks ... one of the most important for our tree is transplanted. To view detail click here . Speaking

substrate :

The substrate of a pot is the medium in which the plant must survive and thrive. The substrate must allow the plant to anchor itself, should encourage the appropriate development and operation of their roots, these roots should be protected from sun, wind, extreme temperatures and in general of any bad weather, should be able to provide all the necessary elements for the plant, and must also be able to collect their waste .

Some desirable characteristics that should provide the substrate are eg:

  1. must be homogeneously mixed, not lumpy or smooth portions remarkable.
  2. should drain well and keep the best possible consistency over time in order to allow good aeration of roots.
  3. must have a good capacity to retain moisture and nutrients.
  4. must present minimal variations in volume between dry and wet status.
  5. If possible not contain mixed seeds or pathogens.
  6. should be appropriate to the plant that will grow and above all to its stage of development.
  7. must meet the area's climatic conditions and possibilities of amateur culture.
